Alexandria. Egypt, brought to New York & few days since, rrrere were many human bones among the nam ber. Egypt has become a great source of supply for bones. The car go of the Wingates was bought of a German dealer in Alexandria, who has made a fortune by his business. He sends out caravans into the de sert and there the natives glean a harvest without any other effort than picking it up. The great quan tity of bones now found is the ac cumulation of thousands of years Those who died were quickly buried in a foot or two of sand, and thus every strong wind that blows re veals new mines of ghastly treasures. The Egyptians who gather them have only one scruple about send ing their fathers' skeletons to be come American fertilizers. They will not send the skulls. These are care fully buried again by the collectors. Martha J. Lamb, the historian of New York city, in a letter to Clar ence W. Ho wen, secretary of the Washington Centennial Celebration Committee, suggests a new feature for the celebration on the last of April. Her suggestion is that "'the managers of the theatres unite In placing upon the stage on the even ing of the 30th of April some of the old plays which Washington went to see in the Tittle 'John Street Thea tre, while he, as President, resided in New York, or plays that would represent him in some of the scenes the country is about to celebrate. It would be easy to find 'Wignalls1 Darky,1 which Washington thought dier,' 'Every One has his Faults, and the 'School for Scandal.1 On the particular evening of April 30th the city will be crowded with visi tors who cannot get into the hall or occupy their time in any satisfactory way germane to the occasion, and this would haye a great effect on the multitude who would otherwise encumber the streets. " The- wide awake citizens of At" lanta, Ga., have subscribed the amount necessary to secure an ex position next fall. The plans of the executive committee for the coming show are cast on large and -broad lines. On motion of Mr. Henry W. Grady, editor of the Atlanta Consti (Ution the executive committee unanimously adopted a resolution providing for the appointment of -a committee of five prominent citizens to go to the City of Mexico, call on President Diaz, of the Mexican Re public, and urge him to visit Atlanta during the exposition as the guest of the city and the exposition com pany. Mr. Grady added that he did not make this request lightly, but had reason to believe that the ex position would do well to send a strong committee to Mexico. Aeon vention of the Republics of North America, Cent ral A merica and South America is to be held in Washing ton during the month of October, ami proper steps now taken, he thought, won Id secure the presence of the representatives of each of these Governments at the exposi tion, either going to or from Wash ngtou, au I would, in all likelihood, secure a tine exhibit of the resources of Mexico and some of the Central Statas. "She's Mnch Older than Her Husband. " We heard a young girl make the above remark the other dav about a lady with whom we are slightly ac quainted. It was not true, yet the lady in q-uestion actually does look five years older than her husband, although she is really several years his junior. She is prematurely acred. and functional derangement is the cause. Be Sure If you have made up your mind to buy Hood's Sarsaparilla do not be induced to take any other.. Hood's Sarsaparilla is a peculiar medicine, possessing, by virtue of its peculiar combination, proportion, and preparation, curative power superior to any other" article. A Boston lady who knew what she wanted, and whose example is worthy imitation, tells ber experience below : To Get ' In one store where I went to buy Hood's Sarsaparilla the clerk tried to induce me buy their own instead of Hood's; he told me their 's would last longer; that I might take it on ten days' trial; that if I did not like it 1 need not pay anything, etc. But he could not prevail on me to change. I told him I knew what Hood's Sarsaparilla was. I had taken it, was satisfied with it, and did not want any other.
