atlonal Bank Building,
It would seem that there need be
no fear of a lack of accommodations
in New York at the Centennial. The
Herald publishes a long list of
private householders who will be
willing to receive guests.
The Brush Electric Light Com
pany employs a man in New York
whose only duty is to cut electric
lisrht wire at fires. He is paid a
good salary, as the work is danger
ous.
A majority of the stock of the At
lanta "jas Com pan v has been sola
to the United States Gras Light Con:.

The Atlanta Company was organ

In its notes about the approach

A colored church in Indianapolis
is poing to reproduce, on its own
platform, the scenes of the inaugural
tion of President Harrison, all the
members of the Administration and
their wives being represented in the
show by members of the congregation.
The New York Herald tells us
something new. It says that Fifth
Avenue ft the dividing line between
East and West New York. We had
always been under the impression
that Broad way was the line and that
the cross streets were numbered
East and West from this street.
The Minneapolis street car com
panies are importing cowboys from
Kansas City and other suburban
towns t5 take the places of the
striking car drivers and conductors.
The cowboy conductors and drivers
the companies hope will frighten off
the strikers and at the same time
draw custom.
The pool sellers of New York are
happy. JudgP Gildersleeve has
deoided that pool sellers on horse
races only acted a& commission mer
chants, and cannot under the
present reading of the statutes be
indicted and punished for violat
ing the provisions of the Ives bill
passed by the New York Legisla
hire last year.
A. M. E. Robinson, of Keucka,
Fla., who is an experienced fruit
banner, claims to have discovered a
piocess whereby oranges can be
canned successfully. It is said that
the cost would not be more than in
canning peaches, that the labor'
cans, labels and case would cost
about $1.10 per case of two dozen.
It takes four oranges of average size
to fill a can.
