A special meeting of the Board of Aldermen was held yesterday after noon to consider matters in connec tion with the public markets. Al derman Hicks, Mayor pro tern., pre sided. On motion of Alderman Morton, Ceairman of the Committee on Mar kets, section 9 of the Market Ordi nance, requiring every huckster sell ing at Front Street Market to pro cure a.badge from the City Clerk and Treasurer, was repealed; and the following was adopted, in lieu thereof; 'That no huckster shall be allowed to vend any articles usual ly sold by them at any place in the city other than in the public mar kets of the city and that no store keeper "thali offer or expose for sale in any store other than the stores in the public markets, and oysters or garden truck other than potatoes, celery, cabbage, . onions, beets, and other dried vegetables, and that any person so offending shall forfeit and pay ten dollars for each and every offence." On motion of Alderman Morton, Section 1Q of the same ordinance, with regard, to storekeepers and hucksteis obstrucking the sidewalk on the west side of Front street, be tween Dock and Orange, was also repealed, and the following, as a substitute therefor, was submitted. Section 10. That no storekeeper be allowed to obstruct the sidewalk of Front street, between Dock and Orauce, in any manner, or to any extent whatever, under penalty of ten dollars for each offence. 'The MacCollin troupe gave us a very pleasant entertainment at the Opera House last' night ahd they played to a large and fashionable house. It is an .excellent company, with a line orchestra and a well trained and harmonious chorus. The piece is full of pleasantries and little "catch ons," the music is bright and lively, the solos viva cious and pretty and the general make-up of the piece is attractive. Mr. MacCollin was tip-top as "The tiovernor"; Miss Fanny Hall made a decided hit as 'Falka" and was greeted with rounds of applause; Mr. Arthur Miller, as "Boleslas," the Brigand Chief, was superb and Mr. Smith, as "Brother Pelican," and Miss Augusta Roche as "Ed widge" won the full favor of the audience; A matinee was given this afternoon and the engagement of the troupe will close to-night with the presentation of "The Muskee ters."
