When the doc tors fall out, who shall agree? Dr. Blaine says that, trnsts are largely private affairs," and Dr. Harrison pronounces them "dangerous conspiracies against the public good." . Mr. Irying M. Scott, one of the proprietors of the Union IronWorks of San Francisco, enjoyed his visit to Baltimore thoroughly. He left there a poor boy. He returned a millionaire. His company employ3 1,400 men. The proceedings in Congress are thus far very tame and of no general interest;. The Senators from three of the four new States were seated yesterday. In the Senate 505 bills were introduced yesterday, against 568 on the first day of the last Congress. And what's the matter with Han nah? We mean Montana. Ob, she's all right. TheRepublicans are very anxions to compromise on a basis of one Senator to each party but the Democrats can't see it by the light of that tallow dip and so thoy f till hold the fort. Mr. Benny Bowlegs has not set the Potomac river on fire yet. His message seems to hare fallen upon Crongressional ears, for the most part as something "flat, stale and un profitable." The quotation does'n miss the mark very far. No pre vious message has excited so little Interest. The lame insinuation in the open ing of the President's message; that it might be stolen by hungry report ers. Is decidedly out of place. The general sentiment seems to be that when Mr. Harrison's imitations and appropriations of Democratic policy are eliminated from the paper there will be nothing left to steal. Gliddon delivered a highly entertaining lecture ' last night in St. Luke's Church, and to a larger audience than that which appeared at the Opera House the night previous. One who heurd him writes us as follows: "Rev. Mr GIfddon's lecture on "Woman: Her Placo and Power," at St. Luke's' Churoh last night was a most- eru dite, humorous, logical, eloquent and powerful effort, and the distin guished gentleman won for himself the' deepest appreciation in the hearts of all .who value such -rare literary attainments. Fcpm the time he entered upon the platform to'tho close of his address every eye was anxiously gazing upon him as to whom they had so many times heard the question asked: 'Who is Gliddon?' It is a great pity that everybody did not hear him, and es pecially the women." KBWADVEUTISEMENT8.
