The members of the Third North Carolina Infantry Association are requested to meet to night in Capt. John Cowan's office, at the City Hall, at 7.30 o'clock. Mayor Fowler's residence was draped in mourning to day, inhonor of President Davis' memory. A good example, which ought to be follow, ed by many others. It is" hoped that there will be a general suspension 'of business here on Wednesday, during the hours of the funeral services over the re mains of ex-President Davis and the interment. Mr. E. Kuhblank, Agent in this city for the Robert Portner Brew iug Co., leaves here to night at 12 o'clock for Washington City, on a business trip. He will be absent about a week. There is one point which, per haps, has not been-considered in preparing for the Memorial services bn Wednesday, and. that is that the time here is a full hour in advance of that at New Orleans. Cutlery. Our stock of Standard Cutlery is very complete. We keep everything in this line that you can possibly desire, and our prices are the lowest. Drop in and look at our assortment. N. Jacobi Hdw. Co. t There are now exactly 100 mem bers of the Confederate Veterans' Association in this county. There ought to Jbe at least 1,000. We are sure that there are more, than that number of old soldiers now alive in this countv. The Purcell House will be opened on Wednesday next. It has been thoroughly remodled, overhauled and imgroved and re finished, from top to bottom. Mr. Roder will see that the cuisine and the attendance is of the very best. Some people are just as cross as a bear, they snap your head off when you happen to" open your mouth. We can not excuse tliem, tor tney have bad colds, which makes them irritable, and are too mean to buy a bottle of Dr. Bull's Cough Syrup, which would restore" their good nature. We call attention to the adver tisement of the Star Saloon and Restaurant, on Fourth street, just North of the bridge, as it appears in this issue. Messrs. Oroom & Ilor rell are the proprietors and they will keep a good house with the best of liquid refreshments and the choicest viands the market affords.
