People would stand appalled if told that the cholera vas raging in this country, and yet a something worse than cholera is here, if the New York Herald may be believed. It says that the disease continues to spread and that the mortality from it is alarming. During the past week there were 39 deaths out, of every 1,000 inhabitants. From pneu monia alone, mostly induced by in fluenza, there were 110 deaths. The total deaths from all causes in the city'dnring the week foot-up 1,202, against 702 for the previous weeK. This is worse than the cholera.
