Creasy last night repeated a sermon preached by him from this text: "Lift up your heads O, ye gates; and he ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of Glory shall come in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in bat tle." I have often heard sermons from this text, but frankly say that I have never heard it more elo quently and beautifully explained The speaker's exhortation to receive Christ Was most touching and im pressive, and I was not surprised that he should have been called upon to repeat it. 'Grace M. E. Church has never in my judgment had a pastor more be loved and esteemed, and one who is doing more to build up his master's kingdom here on earth; and when "the everlasting doors" are raised to admit "the chosen of the Lamb that was slain," this holy man of God will receive his just reward and the plaudit of "Well done, thou good and faithful servant! Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Blight's Disease. This insidious ailment, if too long neglected, will underline the strong est constitution and bring the victim to a premature grave. Heecl the timely warning, and regain health at once by a use of the proper re storative, that great strengthener of the urinary and digestive organs, B. B. B. (Botanic Blood Balm). David Runkel, Cullman, Georgia, writes: "I used a hundred dollars worth of medicine for Bright's dis ease, but it did me no good. I then took B. B. B,, which relieved me. My appetite is restored and I uri nate without pain." J. A. Maddoz, Atlanta, Ga.4writes: "I had great trouble in passing urine which was filled with sedi ments. My back and loins gave me much pain and I lost my appetite, strength and flesh. I became ner vous and unable to sleep soundly. Two bottles of B. B. B. gave me en tire relief." Thomas Williams. Soddy, Tenn., writes: "I was troubled with severe kidney complaint and confined to my bed. Six bottles of B. B. B. made a well man of me." Forecasts. For North Carolina, fair and warm er weather. Alexander. Each day willjbe made a special feature, with military parades, Allliance Day, Gala Day aud Fireman's Day. A fine band has been engaged, to play every day. Low excursion rates have been secured from all principal points. The Mutual Life. The annual statement of The Mu tual Life Insurance Company of New York, as published in this issue, shows the remarkable pro gress made by the institution during twelve months. Since its organiza tion in 1813 it has paid to its policy holders $287,681,948.20. The wonder Tut growth of the company is due in a large degree to the freedom from restriction and irksome conditions in the contract and to the oppor tunities for investment which are offered in addition to indemity in case of death. The Mutual Life was the first to practically undertake the simplifi cation of the insurance contract and strip it of a verbiage in the mazes of which could be found innumber able refuges against claims of policy holders who had, however unwit tingly, departed from the strict let ter of the agreement. That this appealed powerfully to the popular taste is evident from the fact that in 1889 the company wrote over $151,000,000 of new insurance. The First Train. The Cape Fear & Yadkin Valley R. R. is now "open for business." The first train for the West in charge of Capt. Jno. M. Walker, left here this morning for Fayette ville, Greensboro and Mt. Airy and "intermediates." The equipment consists of a large, serviceable pas - senger engine, baggage and express car and passenger coaches, and the train pulled out at the depot at 9:40 and started on its long run. It will get to Mt. Airy to-night and will turn its nose in this direction to morrow morning. The East bound train, under Capt. Dobson, will ar rive to-night and will leave here to morrow morning. The two trains will meet at Fayetteville, which is the dinner station for both. , There was quite an animated scene this morning under the big shed at the foot of Mulberry street. The constantly arriving passengers and the continual arrival of drays and trucks with freight for the in terior, gave one a faint idea of what mav be looked for a few weeks hence. Mr. J. R. Williams started out ex press service on the line this morn ing, with a messenger in charge, but the mails will not be put on until March 1st, an unnecessary and vex atious delay, it seems to u?.
