Married Last Night. Rev. Isaac W. King was married in this city, last night, to Miss Alice Pridgen, of Whiteville. The cere mony was pronounced by Rev. J. W. S. Hanev. at the residence of Mr. B. R. King, corner Seventh and Woosterstreets, and in the presence of a large number of the friends and relatives of the happy couple. Jfearson, tne evangelist, is still sick at the residence of Dr. A C. Pole with typhoid fever; He wil not be able to resume his meetings so auspiciously begun, but has promised to return to Baltimore as soon a he is able. Rev. A. C.Dixon however, will continue the meetings m Immanuel Tabernacle with a series of sermons on the "Parables of Jesus." On the Boards To-night. The prospects are good for a large attendance at the Opera House to night. Ingomar is one of the mos attractive pieces ever presented on this or any other stage and Miss Frost and Mr. Collier have both received verp warm encomiums for their rendition of Ingomar and Par theina. It is said that the lady has completely recovered from her in disposition and is in. fine form for the boards to-nisht. She will be greeted by a large audience. State Sunday School Convention. The Convention yesterday aftei noon was called to order by the President, Rev. Dr. Pritchard., Praver was offered by Rev. Mr. Law. followed bv devotional exer cises and - Bible reading by Rev Colin Shaw. Further reports were then made of the nroerress of the work in the different counties, which showed that there was a jrreat awakening upon this subject throughout the State. Prof. W. A. Blair spoke on "The Art of Securing Attention" andRev. F. W. E. Peschau on 44 What to Do for the Boys." A Conference was then held on the ouestion as to "How to Have Better Sunday Schools." At the night: Session prayer was offered bv Rev. J. A. Spright, of r - ' Raleigh, and a solo was sung by Miss Mina Schwarz. This was followed by a very interesting address by Rev. W. S. Creasy on 4'The Religious Use of the Imagination." Mr. R. B. Reppard, of Savannah, Ga., addressed the Convention fon the subiect of "Teachers." He gave the following as the duties: ' 1. Constant andstrict punctuality. 2. Thorough acquaintance with the lesson. 3. Regular attendance on the Teachers meeting and the Concert. 4. Go from the closet to the class. 5. In teaching, be f familiar, affec tionate, practical, serious, earnest. 6. Converse personally with each scholar respecting his soul. Merely askinsr the questions on the lessons will produce but little (rood. 7. See that vonr instructions are enforced bv vour habitual life and conversation. 8. Studv the characters of your scholars their temners. habits, as- . ' sociations, &ci, and adapt instruc t ion accordingly. 9. Visit the scholars at their home"', especially when they have been ab sent. 10. Bear each scholar on your heart in daily, earnest prayer. 11. Make their salvation the great object of all your instructions. 12. Regard your office as second . . . A.' in importance to none, excepting hat of the pastor and the parent. 13. Cultivate a spirit of ardent piety, self -consecration, and a con stant dependence on God for success. He coramented'pn these as they were read by the congregation to whom he bad distributed cards with these duties printed on them. He continued with an earnest apr peal for consecration and devotion to the work of the Sunday School Teacljer. , - Mr, Reynold took" the floor and eon and Rey-was stated that SOO were raised this morning and he wanted it increased to $1,000. Subscripiions and cash were given covering the needed amount. Mr. McPheeters, the Superinten dent of the Sunday School in the N. C. State Penitentiary, told of the work there. THIS MORXNGS SESSION.
