Lippjncott's Magazine. "A Cast For Fortune' is the title of the novel ijn LippincotC for April. It is by our. j own North Carolina authoress. Mr Fisher, who writes as Christian Jleid. There is m monthly magazine re ceived by us that we welcome with more pleasure than JicIforcTs Maga zine. We like its fiction and admire its poetry, laugh at its wit and swear by its politics. The April number is here and it is as good as the best. "His Bosom Friend" is the title of the novel for the number. It is by Homer Greene and is very interest ing. A fine paper is on "The Free Coinage of Silver" and while we do not agree with all of its premises we admire its logic. "Huxley in Pri vate" is the first instalment of a se ries of articles on "Celebrated Men of the Day." It is by Julian Haw thorne and although it savors 'too much of the George W. Childs style of literature, still it is very fascinat ing reading. "Florenee Campbell's Fate" and "The liuliet Hole" are pleasant little stories; "Communism in China and Corea" is well. written and attractive: and "Books Worthy of Note" is very pleasant literary chat. Perhaps the best paper in the number is one entitled "Wanted: A Christian Confession of Faith." There is a great deal of sound, prac tical Christianity in it. The poems are numerous and good and the de partments are all full. The edito rial department, as usual, is a great feature in the number. Belford Company, Xew'York, a 2.50 per annum.
