Aright good thing happened in the Court House this morning. A case was about to be taken up in the Superior Court for trial before a jury when one of the jurors arose and said: "May it please your Honor, T am incompetent to serve as a juror in this case, because I may become the proprietor of the prop erty in dispute.; Therefore Lawyer Marsden Bellamy, of counsel in the case, sprang to his feet. "What are you talking about?" heasked. "This is a divorce case!. Do you expect to become proprietor of the woman?1 There was of course a hearty laugh, which 'could not be restrained and the juror who was so anxious to es cape has had to run a gauntlet of jokes. He is a clever gentleman, however, a good citizen, a member of a large industrial establishment, an extensive real estate owner and one wno r osters a spirit, i puuuc enterprise on every possible oeca- tion and we won't give him away .Sorrowful Tiding. The sad news of the death of Mr. ! John Thomas Burr, second son of iMr. H. A. Burr, of this city, was re iceived here last night. The young I man was ID years and G months old and the sorrowful news was wholly unexpected Some little time since. his health being rather-delicate, he i purchased a small fam at Rocky : Point and there embarked in the , strawberry culture. Last Saturday morning he was taken with a chill. and last night, less than three days after the attack, he was a corpse. His disease was cerebro-spinal men ingitis. His father and hs elder brother were with him when he died. Mr. Burr was one of the most promising young men in this city, j He was a thoroughly honorable,! honest and upright youth, respected interred to morrow in Oakdale and o'clock.
