It seems that those who have had a severe attack of Russian influenza are liable to an attack of "La Nona,'" as it is called by the country folks of Italy and South Germany. That conditions of the IllillUlli OU JJ 1-k. Frances Folsom Cleveland is still the first lady of the 'land in the hearts of the American people, says the Philadelphia Evftiing Telegraph. The fact is- abundantly proven by the respectful but eager public in terest which follows all the move ments of this fair woman. A day spent at'the seaside was made oqe of added-enjoyment to hundreds of rest seekers because of her presence. Mr. Cleveland may well feel like re senting the impertinence of reckless journalistic quill drivers, but he need have no fear but what the American people will always jeal ously guard the fair fame of his wife. It is. one of their highest pleasures to pay homage to her beaufy and goodness whenever oc casion fittingly offers. - - An International Postage Stamp Exposition began in Vienna on April 20th, 'and will continue uijtil May itlr. All the best known stamp col lectors of England. France, the I'nited States, Belgium, Switzer land, Italy, Germany and the Orient, have" signified their intention to be present, and most of them will make exhibits. The programme of the Exposition includes two banquets and a tour to and through theKahl enb?rge. The Austrian Government has placed in the Exposition build ing a complete set of the machinery used by it in maniitacturing poatacre stamps, and will strike off souvenir stamps for every visitor at the Ex position who wishes them. The most valuable stamp in the Exposition will be one of the first series of Mau ritius. It cost two pence when it was new and is now valued at about4 $3,000. ... It is stated that the new German Chancellor. Gen. von Caprivi, is of Italian origin, as his name reveals. The family of Caprivi during the MiddTo Ages inhabited the ancient Duchy of Friuli. In the history of Goritz the noble family of "De Cap rive" is spoken of, and on the banks of the Serra, near Goritz, wa9 the birthplace in the thirteenth century of many members of Jhat ancient family. They were thus called by the name "Kopriva',' which means "nettle,"' and in their arms was a branch of that plarit. Later on the Capri vis moved northward to Garin. thia. Styria and Hungary, aod re ceived the rank of Austrian nobles, with the property and estates of Nessenthal, and in the Austrian army many members of the family distinguished' themselves in the wars against the Turlis. The Cap rivis came into Prussia for the first time when one of them married a Silesian lady of the Lutheran faith and established himself in Silesia, whose son was the first to change the ancient name of Kopriva von Nessenthal into Caprivi, from the real head of the hoMse, who was called Caprivi de Montecuculi. .
