A "New Flag
The new national flair ordered out;

The first troop train arrived here
last evening and others have come

ton Lierht Infantry went down at 3
o'clock. They will all be in camp at
tattoo to-night. The same rules and
regulations promulgated two weeks

Glenn is already on the ground, hav

night. It will be impossible to ap

The Board met in regular session
yesterday afternoon. Present, the
chairman, Mr. H. A. Bagg, and Com
missioners Moore, Montgomery and
Pearce.
The Treasurer subxiitted his'regu
lar monthly report, as follows: Gen
eral fund, showing balance on hand
$10,3SG.93; educational fund, balance
on hand, $9,777.85. The certificate
of Mr. H. M. Bowden, Cashier of.the
First National Bank, was submitted,
testifying that these amounts were
on deposit there.
The Register of Deeds submitted
his monthly report for July, exhib
iting Treasurer's receipt for $19, from
marriage license fees.
William Hansley was appointed a
special surveyor to survey the lands
of B. A. Carter, on Masonboro.
John M. Bremer, corner Front and
Ann streets; J. L. Bowers & Co., on
Fourth street, between Brunswick
and Bladen (malt only);, and J. O.
Nixon, 80 Nixon street, were granted
retail liquor license.
It was ordered by the Board that
an entire new registration be made
for the election to be held on the
first Tuesday in November next.
The Board then took a recess un
til next Monday afternoon.

streets of garbage, slops, refuse, etc.,

Craft suggested that the ordinance
be printed and circulated, among the

given to the police and health of
ficers to see that the ordinance was

Alderman Smith called attention
to the reduction made in the salary
of the city clerk and treasurer by
the Board of Audit andFinance,and
offered aiiiotion that the Board of
Audit and Finance be requested to
fix the salary at: the same: amount.
