The third annual meeting of the
Citizens' Building and Loan Asso

Mr. Prempert was a -native of.Co
burg, Germany, and has resided here
for twelve years. He was CI years
of age. He leaves a widow,
thiee sons and three daughters, all
!of whom are grown. He-vas an old
and a gallant Confederate soldier
antljhad seen active service in the
field before; coming to this, country,
having served in the. war between
Germany and Denmark In 13. Pre
vious to the war he was a resident
of Goldsboro and when the toe
sir of war . sounded he was one
of the "first to respond. He was
one" of the charter members, of
the Goldsboro Rifles and when
Gov. Ellis i called upon them, in
April, 1861, to occupy Fort Macon,
Mr. Pre'mpert went with them. He
afterwards enlisted in Co. H, 2d N.
C. Regiment, and served with gal
lantry 'and distinction throughout
the entire ;war. . At its close he was
drum major of the regimental band.
Mr. Premnert was la member of
Cape Fear I6dgeo, 2 I. O. O. F.
and was a Past Grand in that order;!
he was also a Royal. Arch Mason j
and a Knight TeuiDlar. and he was
a Past Chancellor of ifermanial
Lodge No. 4, Knights of Pythias. .
