The regular monthly meeting of

A Doubtful lteport.
It is reported that John G. Wag
ner, Esq,, of Masonboro. Sound, was
halted by highwaymen near the
Mineral Spring last Saturday night,
while, on his way home, and that he
fired on them and escaped by his
mule starting off in a run. The re
port may be true but we do not
think that it is. Mr. Wagner was
to have gone over to Brunswick
county on Saturday on a visit to his
daughter, on a hunting expedition
and we think he went, as he ha4 his
doers and gun in town with him on
that day.
A Correction.
There is one word incorrectly
printed in. the resolutions adopted
by the Farmers' Alliance on Friday.
The word "practical" should be
nrinted for the word "partial." The
resolution should read:

by Alderman Hicks, ! requiring
householders to fill up and close all
sinks aud cess-pools was adopted; to
go into effect February 1st, 1891. A

day's failure to comply with the
