Married at Southport. Mr. C. G. Hewlett was married at Southport yesterday, by Rev. Mr. Ashby, to Miss Ida Brinkman, one of the most beautiful aud charming young ladies of the 4,Bay City." Mr. Hewlett went don on the Passport in the morning and returned with his bride in the afternoon. . The young couple have gone quietly to housekeeping here. It .might be said that the Passport left) this port, for Southport, to impoit a charm ing young lady into the State of Matrimony. At least this is the re port. FUh Market Demoralized. The fish market has been com pletely demoralized of late. Deal ers complain that not near enough are received here to fill their orders. They cannot get the fish and their inability to do so is injuring Wil mington as a market. They looked for relief this Fall through the W., O. & E. C. R. R. but somehow the Onslow people have not yet utilized the advantages offered by that road, probably because it "has not yet penetrated far enough. But what ever may be the cause the fact re' mains that fish are scarce and or ders cannot be filled. And is the same way in regard to oysters. The demand is already heavy for the season and the supply thus far has been lighter than for years past. Good crops on land seem to have rendered the people on the coast in different to the crops which await gathering in the . water. Fish and oysters are both needed. Bring them along and get good prices for both. Something of a Siffliblone. A cyclone passed through Robe son county late yesterday after noon going from South to North. It originated iu South Carolina and crossed the Carolina Central Rail road, four miles West of Maxtou. It seemed to make a jump entirely over that road, rising in the air as it approached and coming.down to the woods again, near( Floral College, after it had passed. It seems to have passed just west of Maxton about i o'clock in the afternoon; its direc tion was nearly north. Fortunate Iy its track was not wide. At Floral College, the beltry: of the Presby terian Church was demolished, the beautiful grove was ruined, a house occupied by colored people was blown down and three colored chil dren were injured one seriously, if not fatally. McKinnon's saw mill was demolished; and one man there i was seriously injured. At Hasty, a small town on the Cape Fear & Yadkin Railroad, about eight miles from Maxton and twelve miles Iroui Bennettsville, S. C, four tenement houses occupied by color ed people were blown down and one colored man is report ed killed and Kererul nersons injured. Trees and fence in the track ot the storm ere levelled with. the ground. Buek!ena Arnica SaW. Do vou want the Republicans to carry" the election and have your neighbors arrested and put in iail as in 18G8-9?. If not, register and vote the Democratic ticket. Do you wish the negro to get con trol of your country and State? If not, register and vote for; the Dems ocratic nominees. Do you not know that every negro iu tho State will register and vote? Then so must every white man. Do you wani negro Yankee sol diers with drawn bayonets to meet you at the polls and dictate to you how to vote?
