Maffitt, ot this city, returned here Saturday night from a hunting ex pedition up in the Scotland Neck section. They were absent just one week. In company with some others who joined them on the hunting ground they had fine sport. In all they killed eleven different kinds of game, in the list were live deer, twelve wild turkeys, and squirrels, rabbits, ana oi rus act libitum, act in finitum. They went for a good time and they got what they went: for. Tlie Little Lord. There was a very large audience at the Opera House on Saturday night to see "Little Lord Fauntle roy." As a general thing' the ex pectations'formed were not disap pointed. The piece: was well put on the stage. The company is an ex cellent one and little Ada Fleming, as the little lord, took captive every heart. Mr. Wilson Enos as the Earl and Miss - Sterling ;as the mother both gave excellent representations. The company is a good one and they are entitled to good houses. Connecting With. New' River. i - The W., O. & E. C. R. R. will be completed by to morrow evening to Southwest Branch,! a tributary of JSew Rivef, and about four miles from Jacksonville, j At this point connection will be made with the steamer Louise, plying upon that stream and practically a connection with Jacksonville. It is expected that a great deal of freight will be brought in here over this road, from New River, withmt the next few weeks. As soon as. the connection is made the lumber and. other ma terials for Mr. Mclntyre's residence on New River "will be hauled to the spot and work on the building will begin at once.
