writing from Thomas’a army, complains tliat rail
road travel over the J^outhern lines iu possession
of the Yankees, is attended with considerable
peril He says:

Death of an Old Sailor.—Mr, John Pringle,
Lord Nelson’s coxswait> on board t^e Victory,
died a few weeks since at the age of 103 years
and 7 montfis. IIo was a Scotchuian by birth,
and joined the Koyal Navy at the age of’-1. He
was present at the battles of the Nile and- Trafal
