PETITIONS. Mr. Fleramiog presented a petition fr.nu citizen of Old rrt, McDowell county, a.-king legislation to enable them to vote down the liquor shops in that town. Mr. Ellis, a similar petition from the citizens or Columbus county. KKFOHTA OF BTANDIMO COMMITtBK. Mr. Cunningham, from tbe committee on education, reported favorably on a bill allowing towns of over two thousand in habitants to levy a tax for the support ot public schools within their corporate limits. Mr. Love from the committee on prop'i litions and grievances, asked to be lis charged from drawing a bill asked for in several petitions', allowing township to vote upon tbe question ot retailing spun uous liquor within the limits of the town ship. The committee suggest to Senators receiving such petitions to draw the bill themselves. , Agreed to.
