A certain evening Is set apart for the- purpose; undMhc lactnbers froti the rliilerent counties hand in the names of those they doire appointed; and they are read at the clerk's table. It is understood to be the season for sport and is one of those customs of our la-gisluturc long known and recognized and never departed from, ihev are frequently selected by the members of the Legislature for the influence which each can exert at home in some parti' eular neighborhood. And it is well known that manv of those appointed are wholly unlit fir the proper perfor mance of the duties entrusted to them Ami some of those duties arc of the highest imiMirtancc to their several counties.
