The upward movement Was checked at this point by reports that cotton was offering at Savannah late yesterday in considerable amounts at prices which would permit of ship ments for delivery on December above 11.25. and during the middle session prices eased off under realizing and bear pressure which was also encour aged by reports that an official of a Texas organization had ' predicted a break among holders. New Orleans, La., Oct. 17 Spots were again normal as a result of the llocal labor situation, affacting the cotton handlers and prices remained unchanged;' middling 11 3-8 cents; sales 30 bales on the soot and 1.800 to arrive. Futures opened steady un changed to 2 points below the close of yesterday and through lack of sup port sold off several more point. All interest centered in the strike of the river front which so seriously hamp ers the handling of cotton. Exporters held off from buying, awaiting some change in the strike, situation and the bears, the only active persons in the market of late, were also included to hold off for the same reason. Reports of heavy rains of Texas proved a bull ish feature but little advance was not d in prices until reports were receiv ed that there was a probability that the strikers would return to work pending arbitration. This brought about an advance of several points. At the close which was steady, the Oc tober option was unchanged but ac tive months ranged from 3 to 4 points above closing of yesterday. 17 S.ref.xsreg 108 doref 2 coup.'.l0S dc 3s resr vltl$4 dots coup......102!6 do old 4s rex. 12 1 - do new 4ooupl21& Am.Tob.4s 0 doa 0J4 Atch.gen.ls fH aoadjt.4ft-.- A.
