Btronach -stated his approval of the plan, saying "The more parks a city has the better and healthier it Is for the citizens. Many cities have neglected to establish parks when they had the opportunity of doing so at 'very little cost and later they had to condemn i valuable property and go to great expense to place these breathing places ; advan tageously. The plot In question Is in the heart or Raleigh and would make a pretty and welcome resting place for the people of the city. ' Mr. Joseph G. Brown, president of the Citizens. National Bank, gave his opinion by saying. 'The city should seixe every opportunity to get places for parks and these two plots would greatly benefit the people j of our city." - .Cant. J. J. SEVERE T HUflDER STOBU THRKi: HOUSES STRUCK BY x L1GHTXIXG MRS. BARRETT.' RECEIVED SHOCK. Wilson, N. C, June 25. Yesterday afternoon a ,: severe thunderstorm came ursuddenly.. During the deluge a fire alarm was Isent in. The fire department responded. It proved to be the' Clayton boarding house which had been struck by lightning. The damage was slight. . The residence of iMr. J. E. Barrett was also struck and Mrs. -Barrett re ceived a shock. The bolt struck the chimney, displacing several bricks, ripped up several sheets of slate, and passed down the side of the house and demolished a window casing, shatter ing glass and tearing the plastering from the room. The house of Hardy Johnson, color- ed. was, also struck, the front porch demolished and the house fired, but was extinguished by the rain. A num ber of transformers were put out of commission by the storm. . A number of cotton blooms have been brought In from different sec- tins of the county. Chances In Schedule. There has been a slight change In the arrival and departure of trains in Wilson over the Norfolk and Southern Railroad: No. 1, going east, will leave at 8:23 a. m.. Instead of 8:35; No. 14, going west. 9:40 a. m., instead of 8:45; No. 15. east, 6:12 p. m.. Instead of 6:11: No. 2. west. 7:30 p. m.. Instead 8: on. Trains Nos. 1 and 2 will bo ex tended to New Bern. This schedule will be in effect June 27. The fertilizer factory owned by the Contentnea Guano Company In the southeastern section of Wilson which was totally destroyed by fire about a week ago, will be rebuilt In an enlarged capacity on the former site. Work will begin on the new fac tory about August first and will be completed by the fall Gone to Stamford. Conn. Rev. T. A. Cheatham, who for the past three years has served his parish as rector of St. Timothy s Episcopal church In Wilson, left yesterday with his excellent family fot Stamford, Conn., where they will make their home In the future. Mr. and Mrs. Cheatham are-admired in Wilson, not only by the members of St Timothy's church, but by the whole community, who deeply regret that Mrs. Cheat ham's health was such that It was deemed best that a change of climate should be made that her health should be preserved.
