Mrs. Mahala Catherine May, widow of the late Henry May, died at the hofiie of her son, Mr. Frank May, in Oakland township, Friday, February 2, 1923, in her 83rd yeah About a wek before her death, Mrs. May had a fall, breaking her lgft thigh. No doctor could be had for sev eral hours after the accident, and the unfortunate lady suffered excuciating pains until death relieved her. Mrs. May left an only son, Frank, several grand children and one broth er, Mr. Robert M. Burns, of Pitts boro, to mourn their loss. She was an estimable lady and was beloved by all who knew her. She was buried at Pleasant Hill Methodist church on Saturday, Rev. J. J. Boone, conducting the funeral services . The Tractor School. Don’t forget the J. I. Swannie Drake delightfully enter tained a host of young people at her home Saturday evening in honor her guests, Misses Vera Drake of Ral eigh Mary Webster and Rose Stur divant. Misses Velera Sturdivant and Ren nie Webster spent a few days last week with their grand mother, Mrs. Bettie Thomas, on Pittsboro Rt. 1. Mr. and Mrs. Dandy Thomas, of Broadway, have been on a visit to the home of her sister, Mrs. T. E. Mann. Hurley Gardner spent the week-end in Duncan with his brother, Luther Gardner. Miss Mozelle Poe spent Saturday night with Misses Nina and Bettie Sturdivant. Mr. Henry Webster and Miss Lilia Ellis were dinner guests also of the Misses' Sturdivant last Sunday. Messrs Lasater and Smith, of Cary, spent a few days last week with Mr. AV. A. Mann. , Mrs. C. R. Heame and little son, Jesse, Mrs. Gordon Copeland and daughters, Elizabeth and Ruth, were guests of Mrs. Webster Monday. Bom to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Heame Saturday, February 2nd, a daughter. Messrs Moody Womble and Lassie Sturdivant enjoyed bird hunting Sat urday. Henry, the young son of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Sauls, had the misfortune of severely cutting a foot Sunday, while chopping wood at the wood pile. He was taken to Apex prompt ly by Edgar Beckwith and Mr. Sauls, where a physician dressed the wound. He is getting along nicely. Mrs. Ernie Durham spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. John Gunter. Mr. and Mrs. J .Jeter Hackney spent Sunday night with her mother, Mrs .Bettie Thomas. . Mrs. J. L.
