MARK TWAIN’S ANSWER.
Mark Twain in his early days was
editor of a Missouri newspaper. A
superstitious ,* subscriber wrote him
saying he had found a spider in his
paper, and asked whether that was
a sign of good or bad luck. -The
humorist wrote the answer and print
ed it:/
“Old Subscriber: Finding a spider
in your paper was neither good nor
bad luck for you. The spider was
merely looking over our paper to
see which merchant is not advertis-*
ing, so that he can go to that store,
spin his web across the door, andTive
a life of undisturbed peace ever af
terwards.”

iNEW FRIENDS OLD FRIENDS.
Our List Continues to Qrow and Our
Subscribers are Faithful.
i Our old subscribers are faithful.
Not only do they continue their pa
per, but they are helping us to make
new friends every week.
This week the paper goes into marly
new homes, some that it has never
reached before. We know they will
find it interesting, and we urge them
to read it carefully. Read the news j
and read the advertisements. In our
advertising columns are many
tunities to save money, and when it
is necessary for you to make a pur- i
chase always buy from a man whe \
advertises. Tell him you saw his ad.
in our paper. Many times you will
get a special consideration. Then,
too, men who advertise are wide-a
wake business folks and are depend
able.
If you are a subscriber and find a
feature at any time that is objection
able, please tell us about it.
