THE CAROLINA EXERCISES
Program Greatly Enjoyed by a Large
Audience.
Cumnock, Rt .1, July 2.—The Child
ren’s Day exercises held at Carolina
the fourth Sunday was an enjoyable
event. The children deserve praise
for their nice recitations and dialo
gues. They were well trained and
held the audience enthused from be
ginning to end. The song service al
so was good, being in charge of Mr.
C. T. Dezem. The Sunday school of
fered a prize to the best girl and boy
speaker, Dr. J. D. Gregg, Mr. Mark
Burns and Prof. W. H. Tyler being
the judges awarded the prizes to Mr.
Colon Burke, a box of stationary, lit
tle Miss Mary George Blair, a box
of chocolate after which Dr. Gregg
presented them a check to get each a
medal for this distinction. At the noon
hour a long table was set in the grove
and everybody satisfied the inner man
At the afternoon service Dr. Gregg
delivered a great speech, also Mr. A.
C. Ray. Both were enjoyed by the
audience. The day was thoroughly
enjoyed and it is to be hoped each
year will bring to us another service
such as this. Mr. Ray offers a medal
to the best boy and girl speaker next
