Bynum Sunday school motored ov
er to Lakewood Park, Durham, Satur
day, for a picnic and a general good
time. This is an occasion when every
body does have a good time, when the
.old folks feel their youth again.

Mr. J. E. Sturivant spent the week
end in Durham with his daughter, Mrs
Arlie Poe.
A social hour was enjoyed in the
auditorium last Tuesday evening when
a mock wedding was given by the
young ladies of the village.

liams, a son, George Alton, Wednes
day, August 2nd.
MEETING AT BEULAH CHURCH.
Bear Creek, Rt 3, Aug. 6.—The pro
.tracted meeting began at Beulah Bap
tist church Sunday, August sth, with
an all day service and dinner on the
ground.
The morning services were conduct
ed by the pastor, Rev. A G. Lassiter,
and the afternoon services by Kev.
Staley.
There will be two services during
&he week. Prayer service at 10:30 a.
m., and preaching at 11.
A large crowd attended the services

Bynum and Chapel Hill Monday, re
turning Tuesday.

Phoenix, superintendent of the Chil
dren’s Home Society, at Greensboro,
stating that throughout North Caro
lina children are being found more
than it is possible to care for at that
institution.
The per capita cost of operation is

deem these little children of the state,
