I could have put on a substitute for a few dollars less. It would have kept the weather out for a few years. Instead, I spent a little more and got a roof that ITI never have to replace and that is completely fireproof. Resides, my roof has beauty and a solid substantial look that fllimsy materials just can't give. Altogether I made a mighty good buy.” Any home owner can profitably follow this advice. THE CHATHAM RECORD, PITTSBORO. N. Q I Mr. J. H. Boone, who is employed by the Arnold Syone Company of Greensboro, after spending the holi days with home folk, left for Greens boro the first of the week. Mr. Boone spent several months in Ala bama last fall in the employment of -.tire:stone company. W ell, it seemed too difficult to un dertake to make a full-sized paper ihis week. However, as we gave the regular size during the holiday sea son, we should be excusable. All the county news we could get is right dere, just the same as if the paper were twice as large. The Weeks Motor Company had leceived up to this writing only two >f the new model Fords and they vvere gone so quickly that few have seen them. But you can probably see one at the garage now. But there is no telling; since they seem to be in great demand. Mr. Clinton Bryan, carrier on R. r. D. 1, the first Pittsboran to get a new model Chevrolet. It is a beauty. The Chatham Chevrolet Company probably has the new model in stock. You will note that the prices have been cut at the same time the car is improved. Still another young lady has been added to the populatio nos Pittsboro. The last comer has taken up her abode with the Shivers, having ar rived by stork express a few days ago. Prof. Waters, Supt. Thompson, and now Mr. Shiver are the proud dads of girls born within about three weeks. Mr. R. F. Rice of Siler City Rt. 5, accompanied by his son and Mr. W. H. McChesney of Atlanta, was in Pittsboro Monday on business. Mr. McChesney, Mrs. McChesney, and three children are visiting the Wild wood Gun Club, and the Record hopes that the Atlantan will have the best of luck among the birds. Superior Court will be in session next week. The number of cases to be tried will have been very much decreased by the work of the re corder’s court. However, there are several cases of felony rank which can not be tried by the county court, also an appeal or two from the county court to the superior. We appreciate the number of re newals we have been receiving. We w r ould call particular attention to the bargains advertised. Six papers for 35 cents. If you have already paid your subscription, come in and pay 35 cents and get the six additional papers. They cost us only thart; amount and we lose nothing except the trouble of entering your order, and we should be glad to do that for you. It is a great bargain. See advertisement in last week’s paper if it should not be in this week’s. e BASS-PETERSON Friends of Miss Essie Peterson were gTeatly.surprised when she rode over to Raleigh Tuesday evening with Mr. Roscoe Bass and was married. While the marriage was expected some time in the future, even the family of the bride were not aware till two or three days earlier that it was so imminent. The young couple will reside in the Colonial Apartments in Wilson for the immediate future at least. The groom has large farming interests in Wayne and Wilson Counties, and has hitherto made headquarters at Fre mont. He is an alumnus of the North Carolina University and Columbia University. The bride is the third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Peterson of Pitts boro, and has many friends through out the State who will wish her great joy in her new state. . ‘ <S> NOTICE OF SERVICE NORTH CAROLINA: CHATHAM CO UN TY: IN THE SUPERIOR COURT.
