Boone, reached home last Saturday for the the summer. Miss Mary Womble, who has been teaching near Lenoir, is also at home for the summer. Mr. J. V. Wfcrpjge, who has been teaching in White* Plains high school, Mr. James B. Utley, who has been teaching at McLeansville high school and. Mr. Robert W. Ut ley, who has been principal of a school near Liberty reached home for the past week-end. Moncure is alive now with girls and boys who h&ve been off to college and with some who have been off teaching. We welcome them back home and to Moncure. Miss Elizabeth Thomas, who will graduate in a few weeks at N. C, C. W., Greensboro, spent last week end at home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Thomas. Mrs. H. D. Strickland returned last Saturday from a visit to rel atives at Fayetteville. Mrs. John L. Sprower, Sr., who has been visiting Mrs. J. J. Hack ney, returned to her home at Free port, X. Y., one day last week. Rev. and Mrs. F. Y. Seymore and family, of Buie’s Creek, moved to Moncure one day last week. They are occupying the John Bell house on Main street. Rev. Seymore is pastor of the Baptist church in town, also Gum Springs and Flat Spring churches near here. His churches gave him a pounding re cently. We welcome them to out town. Mrs. J. F. Brady, who has been visiting her daughter in Raleigh, returned to her home here last Saturday. The Junior Epworth League met last Sunday evening and gave an interesting program. Also the Senior League gave an interesting program at 7:30 o’clock with Miss Emma Lee Mann as lead er. The subject of the lesson for the evening was “Bible Stories That Inspire.” The devotional was held by Mrs. W. W. Scedman. Misses Margaret Strickland, Roberta Lam beth, Dorothy Lambeth and Camelia Stedman assisted the leader in pre senting the lesson. After the meet ing, the regular monthly business session was held, with the presi dent, Miss Camelia Stedman, pre siding. Much business was trans acted and the financial success of the league was discussed. The mem bers were requested to bring their mission pledge money to the meet ing next Sunday evening, for the remainder of the mission pledge money is to be sent in this month. Miss Lois Ray will be the leader for next Sunday evening at 8 o’clock. All members and visitors are requested to be present. Miss Dorothy Poe is visiting Miss Ruth Stedman this week. Mr. J. W. Tally of Bonsai was life town last Saturday on business. Mr. F. K. Borden and son, Kern on of Goldsburg, are in town to day, Monday, on business. J Mr. W. W. Stedman reports a pleasant trip to the District Con ference at Roseboro, Sampson Coun ty, N. C. He went with Rev. J. A. Dailey, H. F. Durham, and Lacy yYomble, of Pittsboro. Mr. Sted tnsra, was elected as delegate to the annual .conference at Henderson to be held this fall and Mr. Lacy Wombie was elected alternate.
