Henderson, of near this city, was carried to a Charlotte Hospital Wednesday for an operation for sinus trou ble. Attorney Henderson accom panied her there. Messrs. Isaac Duncan, Joe Moore, Conrad Pearson, Cody Moore and Calvin ’ Wright left Sunday to continue their college studies at State_^ College, Raleigh, during the summer session. Mr. C. L. Shulenberger, former cashier of the now defunct Bank of Wilkes, passed through the city and visited old friends Wed nesday. He is now connected with State College, Raleigh. Mrs. Richard Sloop and two small sons, Dickey and Roger, of Washington, D. C., arrived here Tuesday for an extended visit, with Mrs. Sloop’s parents. Dr. and Mrs. R. M. Brame. Mrs. A. L. Lippard came home Tuesday from the Davis Hospital in Statesville, where she had been a patient for two weeks. Much improvement is noted in the condition of Mrs. Llppard. Mr. and Mrs. C. 0. McNeill and Miss Ruby Tuttle, of this city, visited Mr. J. G. Tuttle, of Stoneville, during the past week end. Mr. Tuttle is the father of Mrs. McNeill and .Miss Tuttle. Misses Minnie Carlton and Nell Rose Call, of Williamson, W. Va., are visiting Miss Lula Jennings, of this city, and other relatives in the county this week. Mrs. J. P. Turner and daugh ter, Mrs. Robert Gorrell and two sons, all of Greensboro, came up Friday to spend sometime at their cottage on the Brushy MountJiins. Mr. and Mrs. Fulton Fletcher, of Wilkesboro, visited Mrs. Fletch er’s father, Mr. W. A. Williams, of West Jefferson, who is quite ill, Tuesday evening. Some improve ment is noted in Mr. Williams’ condition, it is learned. .Mr. Charles McNeill, of Purlear, who was recently elected county welfare officer, left this -week to attend the welfare workers’ insti tute at Chapel Hill. Laura May Spears Laura May Spears, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. .1. L. Spears, of near Buck, died Monday. June 19. The funeral service was con ducted from Pilgrim church Tuesday by Rev. Charles Martui.
