Hale is a member of BaptUt Troop No. 35 and at the present time Is junior assistant Scout- (Continued on page eight) Miss Toby Turner Fly To West Left Today For Flight To California; Will Arrive Saturday Miss Toby Turner, superin tendent of the Wilkes Hospital, of this city, who left today for Charlotte on the first leg of her (trip to Pasalena, Calif., will be the first Wilkes person and probably the first North Carolina lady to make a cross country flight. Miss Turner went by motor to Cfiarlotte where she will board a transport plane and fly to Atlanta, Ga, She will leave Atlanta Friday (tomor row) morning at 7:30 a. m. by plane anti expects to land at lios Angeles,, Calif, the same hour Saturday morning. In Pasadena, Miss Tnmer will visit her brother. Attorney Dent Turner. Later in the month, she will visit Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Horton, of this city, who are visiting at Car- penteria, Calif. She will return with them by antomobUe by way of Chicago where the party will attend the World’s Fair. So far as is known to local citizens.
