Wilkes boro representatives were Lee Settle and Helen Bum garner. They were carried to Mars Hill by T. H. Settle, accom panied by Larry Wiles and Lil lian Linney. The Wilkesboro students made a fine showing but were unable to make the semi-finals. Thirty- one high schools took part in the, contest. Carmichael, of this city, died Friday morning at 8:30. He leaves his parent? and one brother, Horace Car michael. Funeral service was held in High Point, former home of the parents, on Saturday afternoon at 3:30.
