Claude, Jr., returned Wednesday to Knightdale after spending a few days In Wilkes boro with Mrs. J. B. Hall. The Princess Cafe, of which Mr. James PIperis is proprietor, has installed three new, large re frigerators in order to give the cafe’s patrons a better service. Mrs. Lucille Farmer, who is attending summer school at Elon College, was here for the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Genio Cardwell. Miss Tudle Hix left Tuesday for a two weeks stay at Camp Betty Hastings near Winston- Salem. She was accompanied there by Mrs. J. D. Moore, Sr. Miss Lois E. Warren, of Wil kesboro, Route 2., has returned home after spending three weeks In Durham, Raleigh and Moores- ville visiting friends and relatives. Mr. E. D. Hudson, of Winston- Salem, district manager for the Metropolitan Life Insurance com pany, was in the Wilkeshoros yes terday looking after business mat ters. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Rector and little daughter, Patty, and Mrs. Ida Rector, of Chula Vista, Calif., arrived here last week to spend several weeks visiting friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Sanders, of this city, enjoyed a delightful automobile trip through the Stnokey Mountains National Park during the Fourth of July Holi day season. Mr. and Mrs Warren Hastlngr and two sons, Edwin and Robert Allyn, of Marion, Va., spent a couple davs here this week, visit ing Mrs. Hastings’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McNiel. Miss Vivian Truitt recently underwent an operation for ap pendicitis in the Caldwell Hos pital in Lenoir. Thomas Eshelman, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Eshelman, ^ been removed from the WBkes hospital to his home. He Has Uking treatment for an infectftO leg and is Improving. Mr. W. D. Halfacro. supefni- tendent of city schools, Is a pa tient at the Wilkes hospital. Ho went there Sunday for treatment and his condition was reported to day as .improved. Mrs. L. A.
