Three tables were arrnaged for play in an at tractive Thanksgiving setting, and at the beginning of play the hostess served an ice course. Mrs. pretty setting of chrysanthe mums. The home was atfrac- tively decorated with a profusion of fall flowers. Carlisle Jordan won the top score prize in bridge and Miss Irene Culler in bingo. Fidelia Class At Hinshaw In Meeting The Fidelis Class of Hinshaw Street church met at the home of Mrs. N. J. Greenwood with 17 members present. Roll call and report of vhat had been done by the members .of the class the pre vious month were read by Mrs. John Adams, the secretary. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess, with the aid of Mrs. Sebon Walker and Mrs. Claude Miller. Local ‘People Attend Banquet At Hickory Mrs. C. H. Cow:es, Mrs. Vernon Deal, and Miss Ruth Colvard at tended the banquet of the Wo man’s College at Greensboro which was hel4 at Hotel Huffrey m Hickory Friday evening. Around a hundred were present for ban quet which included representa tives from seven counties. The speakers for the evening were Eh. iV. C. Jackson, president of the college. The theme for study, ‘“niese Things Remain" was presented by Mrs. W. F. Jones, the mission study secretary, and was assisted by Mrs. C. C. Kil by, Mrs. Quincy Adams, Mrs. J.'F. Fletcher, Mrs. A. C. Dennis, and Mrs. Tal Barnes. At the meeting plans Vere an nounced for the observance of Week of Prayer the first week in December with the following ses sions to be held; Monday after noon, 'Tuesday evening, Wednes day evening,. Thursday afternoon, and Friday morning, places of meeting to be announced later. Miss Ray Barnes Gives Two Delightful Parties Two interesting parties were 'given by Mrs. Ray Barnes, enter taining at her home on E Street Friday and Saturday evenings. On I Friday evening a dessert course j preceded a game of cards with britlge being played at five tables and rook at one. The hostess .was a.ssisted by Mrs. A. E. Foster in the sei-ving. In bridge Miss Elizabeth Heats was the winner of the high score award and also re ceived the prize for honors, while Mrs. C. B. Lomax won out in the game of rook. Miss Ruby Dockery, who teaches at Ronda and was a houseguest of Mrs. Barnes, was remembered with a gift, also Mrs. William Mil ler. the former Miss Mamie Yates. At the party Saturday evening bridge w'as in play at four tables and rook at two. Mrs. John Craw ford assisted the hostess in serv ing a dessert course at the be ginning of the game. In rook the j "inners of high and low score (Wards were Mrs. Edd F. Gard ner and Mrs. Charlie Day, while in bridge the winners were Mrs. Frank Tomlinson and Mrs. Wayne P'oster.
