Jones 'was hostess to both of her clubs at her home on B street Friday. In the after noon she entertained the mem hers of the Friday Book club anr' two additional guests. Mrs. A. C. Waggoner and Mrs Ray Hoover. In the absence of the president, Mrs. James C. McDiarmId, Mrs. Jones presided while Mrs. J. C. Reins made the roll call, the the group responding with inter esting news items. Tempting re freshments in two courses were served at the close of the after noon. In the evening she was hostess I ' to the members of the Tea and Topics club and few extra guests. Rook was played at three tables. Miss Neta Blackwelder scored high. Mrs. Ira Payne second high, and Mrs Ralph Duncan low, each receiving attractive awards. A salad and sweet course was serv ed at the conclusion of play. Gilliam on Ninth Street Tuesday evening. Miss Manie Brewer, the chairman, was in charge of the mee ing and Mrs. Alice Stafford was program leader. The theme, "Heralds of Light" was given by Mrs. Stafford, Miss Rebecca Mos- ,ey. Miss Gilliam, Mrs. Cecil Wiles, Miss Ruby Blackburn and Mrs. George Johnson. About twenty were present and were served refreshments during the social hour. Social Calendar Mrs. William C. Around thirty were present and were served a turkey dinner with accessories at 6:.'!0 o’clock. The opening prayer for the meetin.g was of fered by Mrs. C. R. Eller after which Mr. D. E. Elledge. the gen eral superintendeiit, heard the reports from the different de partment stipei intendents and teacher.s, and some plans were made for the Iietterment of the .jlunday School.
