Millers Creek Home Club Has Meeting The Millers Creek Home Dem onstation club met March 16th In the home economics room. Eight members answered the roll call with whet war work they had done for the month. Mrs. Greene was not able to be present so Mrs. M. F. Bumgarner had charge of the meeting. Seaman Forester Is Transferred Gordon Forester, seaman sec ond class, has been transferred from Balnbrldge, Md., to Norfolk, Va. , Seaman Forester held a po sition with Duke Power company here before entering the navy in January. Reeves Going Oversea* Pvt. Conrad Reeves recently wrote his wife that he was getting ready to sail for overseas service. Pvt. Reeves had been In training for 17 months at Camp White, Oregon. m liB Estes Sends Easter V-Mail Greeting Easter greetings on V-Mail have been received by B. F. Estes from his ion, Seaman First Class Billy Wade Estes, who Is now In Eng land. The greetings, which pic ture a sailor doing his washing and' with the words, "too busy to write", were as follows: "Dear Dad: Happy Easter to you all. I’d like to add lota more, but you see I'm awfully busy helpin’ to win this war”. M m Don Culler In Army Air Corps Don Culer, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Culler, of Wllkeeboro, volun teered for service in the army air corps and Is now stationed at Fort Bragg. Prior to entering the air corps, Don assisted his brother, John Culler, in operating Culler’s Esso Service in Wilkesboro. His parents visited him at Fort Bragg several day's ago, being accom panied by their son, St. Sgt. Clegg Culler of the BTC at Greensihoro. fe Pvt. Julius Barnett Visiting Parents Pvt. Julius Barnett is home from Camp Edwards, Mass., and is spending a ten-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Barnett, In Wilkesboro. n Cadet Wells Returns Aviation Cadet George Wells was here last week on a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Wells. He came home from Nor man, Oklahoma, and at the end of his leave reported at Great Lakes, 111., for hospital treatment for rheumatism. George entered service in the navy on November 26, 1941, and served 18 months in Puerto Rico. He has completed courses at the University of California at Los Angeles, Polytechnic at San Luis, Obispo, California, naval flight school at Ely, Nevada, and St. Mary’s college in California. Before sickness made his leaving necesary he was In training at the naval air station at Norman, Ok lahoma. M IM St. Sgt. Baxter Davis Arrives Home St. Sgt. Baxter Davis, who has been in active service In the Pa cific area, arrived home Saturday and Is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zeb Davis, of Wilkes boro.
