The guests con sisted of a number of high school boys and girls, who were directed in a number of informal games, after which they were invited into the dining room for refreshments. A white birthday cake, topped with 16 white candles, centered the dining room table. 3t. Cecilia Junior Club Has Party The junior division of the St. Cecilia Music club met with Ruth and Tommy Long at the Wilkes boro school building Friday af ternoon. There was a large at tendance of club members, and guests were Mrs. Long, John Long and Tommy Doughton. Howard Ford, pastor of the Wilkesboro Baptist church, was guest speaker for the month ly meeting of the Wilkesboro Woman’s club held Friday eve ning at the home of Mrs. P. C. Hubbard, Sr. Mrs. R. B. Prevette, chairman of music department, presented Rev. Mr. Ford, who made a most interesting talk on Peace and Christmas. Mrs. Hub bard, president of the club, pre sided for a short bnsines session. Refreshments were served during the social hour. Mrs. W. R. Absher Is Circle Hostess Members of the First Baptist church circle, of which Mrs. W. R. Absher is chairman, met at Mrs. Absher's home on Ninth street Thursday evening for their monthly meeting. A brunswlck stew supper was served at 6:30 o’clock after which Mrs. Ab sher presided for the business ses sion, during which time the dif ferent committee chairmen made their yearly reports. Mrs. Monroe Eller was the devotional leader. Around 12 members were present for the supper and were seated at small tables placed in the living room. r. E. L. Class Has Christmas Party \ The December meeting of the f T. E. L. Class of the North Wilkes boro First Baptist church was held on Friday evening at the home of Mrs. J. T. Kerbaugh, having 15 members present and one visitor, Mrs. B. T. Mitchell, of Charlotte. Mrs. Kerbaugh, the president, was in charge of a short business ses sion, after which the meeting was turned over to Mrs. A. C. Dennis and Mrs. J. M. MeCIaskey, who di rected some games and a contest. Mrs. T. J. Frazier was awarded the prize In the contest. Mrs. Mc- Claskey led the devotional period, reading the Christmas story from the Bible. During tbe social hoar refresh ments were served by the host esses, Mrs. Kerbaugh, Mrs. John W. Mitchell, Mrs. C. O. Emerson. Mrs. Clarence Triplett, Mrs. Bur- chette, and Mrs. John Bumgarner.
