Roy S. Dearstyne, in charge of
the college's Poultry Department.

weeks of the bird's life, Prof.
Dearlfeyne said, adding that em
phasn will be given to the big
gest possible use of feed ingredi
ents produced in North Carolina.
"A great need exists here for
investigational work that will re
sult in a greater utilization of
our state resources," he declar
ed. "This is especially true in re
lation to feedstuffs and the by
products of certaip of our agri
cultural industries. Many of these
materials furnish suitable feed
supplements if their proper place
in the diet ,can be determined
through research of this nature."

skull was turned up 10 days ago,
said a number of skeletons was
found hurled in a hole*beside an
old road where s skirmish took

Originally the skull was
thought to have been a fairly
fresh one (buried within the past
dozen years.

Medlin, 25, of near China Grove,
and Mary T. Miller, &1, of Kan
napolis, waived preliminary
hearings in Rowan County Court
today on charges of criminal as
sault.
According to charges in the
case, Medlin and Miller are al
leged to have picked up the
woman in China Grove aibout
11: 1*5 o'clock on the night of

They are alleged to have tak
en her to a "shack" near Kan
napolis and to have commitfed
the offense with which they are
charged.
