The marriage of Miss Betty
Dancy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Glenn Dancy, of Hays, and Mr.
Joe Elledge, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Sherman Elledge, also of Hays,
was solemnised on Wednesday,
May 31, at the Maple Grove Bap
tist church with the Rev. Glenn
Huffman as the officiating min
ister. Only family members and
a few close friends attended. The
vows were spoken at three o'
clock before a background of
white pine, white candles, and
whi^e snapdragons.
Mrs. ?Gordon Finley, pianist,
played a program of wedding
music, and Miss Glenna Higgins
sang' "I Love You Truly,'' and
Mrs. iCl&rol Dancy "Always."
Miss Lillian Dancy, of Carlisle,
Pa., and a cousin of the bride,
was the maid of honor and the
bride's only attendant. She wore
navy blue dress with blue ac
cessories and had a corsage of
red f)?fcebuds. '
Carol and Glenn Dancy, Jr.,
were ushers and Wayne Dancy,
all three brothers of the bride,

The bride, given In marriage
by her father, was dressed in an
aqua crepe street drees, lace
trim, with which she used black
accessories. At her shoulder was
a white orchid.
After the ceremony the couple
left for a wedding trip and upon
their return will be at home at
Hays. Both young people are
graduates of the Mountain View
high school, and after several
years in the navy the groom is
now employed at Rhodes-Day
Company In North Wilkesboro.

Musical Event
A large number of local people
went to Winston-Salem Wednes
day evening to hear Ezia Pinza,
baritone, at the Reynolds Audi
torium. This program was the
last one for the season in a se
ries of musical performances,
which had been sponsored by the
Civic Music Association of Win
ston-Salem. Among those going

It was announced by Sergeant
Francis M. Darcy, Commander of
the Lenoir Recruiting Station,
that seven men from North Wil
kesboro were recently enlisted in
the Regular Army.

due to the many added advantag
es of the New Regular Army,
more and more men were (becom
ing interested in the Army as a
career. Regular Army men today
are not only recognized as the
finest and most outstanding of
America's young manhood, but
they art assuring for themselves
a secure future, while working at
vital and interesting jobs of
their choice.
