He was accompanied from Greensboro by his daughter, Miss Anne Cragan, who Is a student at Woman's College. Mr. Perry Low® and Mr. Sam Davis, of Pores Knob, and Mr. Nathan Davis and Mr. Aloneo Davis, of Taylorsville, returned Thursday from a deer hunt In Pisgah National Forest. Mr. Sam Davis killed a deer during the hunt. Miss Jane Smlthey Is critically 111 In Rex Hospital, Raleigh, where she underwent an operation on Tuesday. Her brother, Mr. Bryan Smlthey, of Taylorsville, and sister, Mr*. Rowena S. Hamilton, of Philadelphia, are at her bedside. Miss Betty Gray Church, student at Mars Hill College, spent the week-end here with her parents and had as her guest a classmate, Miss Helen Tate, of Fayettvllle. Mr. and Mrs. ChuTch carried them back to Mars Hill Sunday. Messrs. T. R. Bryan, Jr., student of Wake Forest College, Robert Trlplett, of the U. N. C., and Tom Foster, of State College, were home the past week-end. They came home to see the North Wllkesboro - Wllkesboro football game, and all three were members of the Wllkesboro team last year. Dr. and Mrs. F. H. Gilreath, who have been making their home In the Adley community for a number of years, have gone to Lexington, Va., where they will reside with their son, Dr. Esmarch Gilreath, and Mrs. GiK reath. Dr. Gilreath recently sold his fine rive;- farm to Mr. Glenn Williams. Mm. Jewell Emerson, of Charlotte, visited her parents, Attorney and Mrs. J. R. Henderson, 14 Wilkesboro the past week-end. Mrs. Emerson came here to witness the North Wllkesboro-Wllkesboro football game Friday night. Mrs. Emerson is secretary-treasurer of the Prethewey Company of Charlotte. Pfe. Clyde Stone, of Service Company, 19 th Infantry Regiment, was promoted to the rank of Technician Fifth - Grade in Japan last week. He ta the sou of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Stone ol 2nd Street, North „ Wilkesboro, North Carolina. T-5 Stone entered the Army October 17, 1946, and prior to going to Japan received basic training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He Joined the 19th Infantry last January, and is now a cook for Service Company. Before enlisting In the Army, Stone was employed by the Carolina Mirror tiompany. The 19th Infantry is a unit of the 24th Infantry Division.
