Miss Alma Jennings, of Thornasville, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Senter Jennings, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jennings at Pores Knob. Dr. Gilbert R. Oombs, pastor of the North Wilkesboro First Methodist church, received a message Sunday telling of the death of a sister, Mlrs. Lucy Ann Banks, at Covington, Ky. She was buried at Berea, Ky. on Tuesday. 1 Mr. Lynn Kerbaugh, student of Wake Forest College, was home the past week-end visiting hla parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Kerbaugh. * Mrs. VR, 6. Wright, who underwent an operation at the Davis hospital some time ago, Is recuperating nicely at her home near Union Grove. Mr. R. M. Dockery, of Oooleemee, spent the week-end here in! the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rayi Barnes. Mr. Dockery Is an uncle of Mrs. Barnes. Mr. Russell Gray, Jr., has returned from a successful deer hunt in Caroline county, Va. Mr. Gray killed a 125-pound deer while on the hunt. i Miss Vivian Kerbaugh, Who is! attending Wake Forest College, is spending Thanksgiving in the city with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. "J. T. Kerbaugh. Miss Emma Eller, who has been a patient in Lee Memorial Hospital, Marion, Virginia, for past two weeks is improving. She was taken sick while visiting in her brother's family, Mt and Mrs. J. A. EUef, of Marion, Va. Friends of Mr. S. R. Bessent, local A. T. TT. operator, will be glad to know that he has returned to his home in Wilkes-1 boro after undergoing treatment at the Wilkes Hospital for several weeks. It is hoped that he will soon be able to be out again. Mr. Dean Lincoln Minton, second tenor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey L. Minton, North Wilkesboro, has been chosen as a member of the glee club at Mars Hill college. The glee club, which is under the direction of Miss Edith Bugg, is composed of sixty-eight students chosen on a competitive basis. The glee club will appear with the college orcheStra-in a program of Christmas music December 14 in the college auditorium as its first concert of the season. The group will also appear in a spring concert at the college and will make a number of short tours, singing in various schools and churches. ——"" Miss Lillian Hope Rhodes Is Bride Of Clyde Revis Lowe Miss Lillian Hope Rhodes, daughter of Mrs. Earl D. Rhodes, and the late Mr. Rhodes, of North Wilkesboro, became the ibride of Clyde Revis Lowe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Lowe, Sr., of Pores Knob, on Wednesday, November 26, at-the home of the bride's mother. Rev. Roger C. <Jwaltney, former pastor of the groom and ex-chaplain in the Army, officiated using the double ring ceremony in the presence of the Immediate families and a few friends. Prior to the ceremony hour, Canney Len' Lowe lighted the candles while Misg Marie Eller rendered a program of nuptial music. The vows were spoken at two o'clock before an improvised altar of green with seven branched candelabra holding white Candles, and flanked by tall baskets of white chrysanthemums. Attending the couple were Miss Pat Rhodes, sister of the bride, and Mr. Perry Lowe, Jr., brother of the groom. For her nuptials the bride chose a dress of moonstone blue with brown accessories. She carried a nosegay of pink carnations centered with a white orchid. After the rehearsal on Tuesday evening the bride's mother entertained at ft cake cutting. The table covered with a lace cloth had as Its centerpiece the wedding cake, encircled by fern and chrysanthemums. Immediately following the ceremony the couple left for a| wedding trip to Florida and other southern points. For travel thei bride added a winter white coat and wore the orchid from her bonqnet.
