Mount Airy Graniteers 13 to 6
with Willard Kops, University of
Indiana right hander, on the
mound. North Wilkesboro batted
Bowman out of the box in the

over the ex-big-leaguer this sea
son. and continued to rack up a
total of 14 hits off Williams and
Cashier. Manager Flash Loman
had a perfect night at bat with
two singles, double and triple,
and Mercak had a perfect night
with three for three. The Gran
iteers' ninth inning rally was cut
short by the second double play
of Tagllarlno to Loman to Dad
dino. The Thursday game/ gave
North Wilkesboro the Mt. Airy
series 2 to 1, the Flashers hav
ing booted the first game away
when they had a bad night a
field. The second game went to

Will Meet August 17

nual session of the State Coun
cil of the Junior Order United
American Mechanics, It was an
nounced here today by Forrest
O. Shearln, State Secretary of
the Order.
The session will convene at
Winston-Salem, N. C.f at. 2 p. m.
on Tuesday, August 17, and the
Robert E. Lee Hotel will be
headquarters. The banquet meet
ing will be held at the hotel on
Tuesday evening and the real
business of the session will be
gin at 1 p. m. on Tuesday, Au
gust 17. Complete Information
concerning the various meetings
of the committees, etc., has been
sent to the membership and to
delegates In the form of a pro
gram.
Mr. Shearln stated that ap
proximately 350 delegates would
be present at the State Council
session and he urged all officers
and delegates of the local coun
cils to make their reservations

Horse Show 30-31
Third annual horse show spon
sored by the Kiwanis club at
Radford, Va., will be held Fri
day and Saturday, July 30 and
31, and it is expected that many
horse show enthusiasts froi
here will attend. A number of
Wilkeg horses will be among the
more than 100 entered for the
two-day show.
