Loftis, of Madison, were the Sunday guests of Mrs. James Hubbard. I Messrs. Kenneth and Bruce Brooks recently returned to their homes from Guam, where they had been employed for 18 months. Mr. A. G. Bumgarner, a well known farmer of the Wllkesboro Roue 1 community, near Millere Creek, was a visitor to this city Friday. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Rogers, Jr., of Laurinburg, visited here dRsring the week-end in the R. R. church home and with their friends. Mrs. James R. Slier, Sr., is a patient in the Wilkes Hospital. Mrs. Slier is the younger daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Tatss, of Wllkesboro. (Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Moore and children have returned from spending a week at Ocean Drive, S. O. Mrs. W. R. Middleton, of An dalusia, Ala., is to spend several days this week in the home of her niece, Mrs. J. W. Willis, in Wllkesboro. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Dal rymple, of Stanford, are visiting here this week in the home of their daughter, Mrs. Boyd Stout, and Mr. Stout. Rev. L. M. Cook will preach at Rock Creek Baptist church on Saturday night, July 31 at 8:00. The public is cordially invited. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Eller visit ed last week with Mrs. Eller's mother, Mrs. G. G. Holland, at Warsaw, and also at Carolina Beach. Mrs. R. R. Church and Miss Odessa Hanks, spent last week at Virginia Beach, visited with Mrs. Church's relatives at Rich mond, Va., en route to the beach. Mr. Forest Church, of Mt. Airy, son of Mrs. Church, went down for several days during the week end end accompanied them home ft far as Mt. Airy. Mrs. Roy York and daughters, Anne and*June, who have been visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Bller Cor two weeks, returned to their home at Haz ard, Ky. Mr. Thurmond Kenerly, Mr. 0. K. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Moore .have returned to their home at Chat tanooga, Tenn., after spending some time here with Mr. Moore's brother, Mr. 8. P. Moore, and family. Mr. Joe Moore is con nected with Skyland Textile company. Mr. and Mrs. James C. Allen left today for their home at Maryville, Tenn., after spending ten day8 here with Mr. and Mrs. James C. Allen, Jr. During their vlbit all of the Aliens stayed at the Gwyn cottage on Brushy Mountain. James W. Money, seaman, DBN, husband of Mrs. Ina J. Money of Thurmond, arrived In Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, July 22, aboard the battleship U8S Mis souri, after a three-weeks' cruise that took him to Lisbon, Portu gal; Nice, Fra&ee, and Algiers, Algeria. Pvt. Ed. Osborne, formerly of Route 1, Wilkesboro, recently ar rived on the Isthmus of Panama, having made the irip via the USAT "Gen. Simon D. Sturgls.' Upon his arrival Pvt. Oeborne was assigned to duty with the 65 th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group at Fort Amador, C.
