A. Porter has return ed to her home in Wllkesboro after spending six weeks with her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Walker, and family at HayB. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kennedy and children, of Winston-Salem, ?Isited Mr. Kennedy's father, Mr. B. J. Kennedy, and other rela tives in Wllkesboro last week. Mr. and Mrs O. K. Whitting ton spent last week at Carolina Beach. Friends are glad to know that Mr. Whittlngton is recover ing from a critical illness. Mrs. C. W. Crawford and dau ghter from Washington, D. C., are spending a' few days here with Mrs. Crawford's brother, Mr. Ralph Davis, and Mrs. Davis. Mrs. D. E. Turner, of Cricket, went to College Park, Ga., this week to enroll her son, Mr. Tom my Turner, In the Georgia' Mili tary Academy. A son was born Monday at the Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem to Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Manshlp, who reside near Mora vian Falls. Miss Frances Roussean, who h*s been holding a position in Ral eigh, is now home. She is spend ing ten days with a friend in Chi cago. Mrs. F. D. Forester, Sr., is clos ing up her home here and is go ing to live with her daughter, Mrs. Joe Ivey, at Myrtle Beach, S. C. Mrs. L. D. Cooke, Mrs. Fred laovette and Mr. Jack Gaddy have returned from College Park, Ga. They went there to carry Mr. Leonard Cooke, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Cooke, to enter the Georgia Military Academy. Messrs. Hubert Canter, Hadley Canter, Kenneth Canter, R'oscoe and Verlin McNeill on Sunday carried Mr. Jimmie Canter, son of Mr. Hubert Canter, to enter the University of Virginia at Char lottesville, Va. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Farley Lowe, Jr., of Greeneboro, on September 9th, at the Wesley Long Hospital, a daughter, Ca milla Louise. Mrs. Lowe is the former Miss Frances Bumgar ner, of North Wllkesboro. Mrs. A. E. Spainhower and granddaughter, Miss Sylvia Ken erly, are visiting this week in Oak Ridge, Tenn., in the homes of Mrs. Spainhower's son and and daughter, Mr. King Spain hower, and Mrs. Arnold Kenerly. Messrs. Guy Tulburt and Ralph Woo ten, of Millers Creek, and Mr. J. I. Anderson, of Winston Salem, have returned from a trip to Washington, D. C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York City. Thev came by way of the Shen endoah Valley on the Scenic Parkway on the return trip.
