He went down especially to attend the funeral of Mr. J. B. Thomasson, a former mayor of Kings Moun tain, held Thursday afternoon, four o'clock, in the Presbyterian church. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pharr, of 1 Raleigh, spent the week-end1, with Mr. Pharr's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Pharr. Mrs. H. C. Hubbard, of Salis bury, spent the week-end in Mo-, ravian Falls with Mr. and Mrs. j W. R Hubbard. A son was born Wednesday at Davis hospital in Statesville to Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Moore, Jr., of Llhis city. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Puckett, of Baltimore, Md? are visiting Mrs. Puckett's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Brooks, and other rela tivee, near this city. . Mrs. Ivey Moore Hostess To Her Club Mrs. Ivey Moore was hostess to the members of the Round Table club at her home on Kens ington Drive Friday afternoon. Bridge was played at two tables with the award for high score going to Mrs. Charles Ziliak, who was a guest of the club, and low score prize to Mrs. W. A. Hardister. Three brides of the summer, Mrs. Dick Hix, Mrs. Fred Gaddy, and Mrs. William Gray, came in for the refresh ments served at the conclusion of play. Each of the honorees was remembered with gifts. In serving refreshments Mrs. Moore was assisted by her two daugh ters, Mrs. A. L. Society of Christian Service of North Wilkesboro .First Meth odist church will hold "open house" in the educational building of the church Wed nesday evening from 7:30 un til nine o'clock, honoring a number of people in the church. The public is cordially invited to attend. Wanda Hall Feted At Birthday Party A surprise birthday party was given to Miss Wanda Faye Hall, of Halls Mills Wednesday night, honoring her on her sixth birth day. Around twenty guests were present and after a number of games they were served refresh ments by Mrs. C. E. Hall, who was assisted by her daughter, Miss Hazel Hall. Presbyterian Women Attend Meeting At Glendale Springs A number of women from the Presbyterian church attended a group conference meeting of the Women of the Church of the North Wilkesboro district held at Glendale Springs Wednesday. Mrs. C. Don Coffey, Jr., presi dent of the district, was unable to be present, and Mrs. C. C. Faw, Sr., presided in her place. Two sessions were held with a picnic lunch being enjoyed at the noon hour. Those attending from the local church were Mesdames Faw, L. M. Nelson, Annie Haines, J. B. McCoy, R. S. Gibbs, T. A. Fin ley, Irene Meade, Misses Lucy Shook, Clara Ogilvie, and Ruth Wood. Five women also attended from the Beulah Presbyterian church at Fairplains. Approximately fifty women at tended the meeting, including Mrs. W. F. Brown, of Lexington, Presbyterial president, and some other officers from Lexington. Mrs. H. B. Smith Bridge Club Hostess Mrs. H. B. Smith was hostess to the members of her bridge club and a few extra guests at her home on D Street Friday afternoon. Table prizes were a warded to Mrs. Boyd Stout and Mrs. Hill Carlton.
