Vows Are Spoken
In Home Ceremony
The marriage of Miss Grace
Frank Kilby and Marvin Lott
Mayberry was solemnized in a
lovely ceremony at the home of
bride on Sixth Street Saturday af
ternoon, December 17. The bride
is the only daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew Franklin Kilby, of
North Wilkesboro, and the groom
is a son of Mrs. Marvin May
berry, of Jonesville, and the late
Mr. Mayberry.
Dr. John T. Way land, pastor of
the First Baptist church, heard
the vows at five o'clock using the
double ring ceremony before an
altar improvised with greenery,
white candles, and white flowers.
Only immediate family members
attended.
The bride and groom entered
together unattended. The bride
for her nuptials was becomingly
attired in a taupe suit with sable
collar, brown accessories, and
wore at her shoulder a corsage
of brown orchids.
Immediately following the cere
mony the bridal couple left for a
wedding * trip to unanounced
points, and upon their return will
be at home in North Wilkesboro
The bride's parents have issued
cards making formal announce
ment of the marriage, also in
closed cards for a reception to be
given at the Wilkes Hotel Fri
day evening, December 80.
The bride, a graduate of the
North Wilkesboro high, school, at
tended Salem College in Winston
Salem and the Carolina Business
College at Charlotte. The groom,
a graduate of the Jonesville high
school and the Appalachian State
Teachers's College at Boone last
spring, is now asssistant athletic
coach in the North Wilkesboro
high school. Prior to attending
college, he served three years in
the U. S. Navy.
Chistmas Parties Held

circle of the Wilkesboro Method
ist church held their annual
Christmas party Tuesday even
ing at the home of Mrs. W. B.
Somers with Mrs. W. T. Long as
associate hostess. Following a
devotional period led by Mrs. A.
R. Gray, Sr., the members, during
an informal hour, had an ex
change of gifts. Refreshments
were enjoyed at the close of the

The Christmas party for the
T.E.L. Class of the First Bap
tist church will be held Tues
day evening at the home of
Mrs. Annie Anderson. A covered
dish supper is to be served at
6:30 o'clock, members will make
an exchange of gifts, and bring
gifts to prepare a basket for a
needy family.
The general meeting of the
Women of the Presbyterian
church will be held at the church
Tuesday evening, 7:30 o'clock.
A Christmas play, "The Mes
age of the Star", will be pre
sented at eight o'clock, followed
by the Joy Gift offering,

season.
Mrs. Marion Elliott and Mrs.
Robert Smoak entertained for the
members of the Irene Culler circle
at a Christmas party at the Elli
ott home, Friday evening. Hie
refreshments served at the close
of the evening and the decorations
for the home featured the
Christmas note. Mrs. Robert Gam
bill, president of circle, was in
charge of the business session, and
Mrs. Albert Garwood directed
games and contests. Gifts were
exchanged.
Mrs. Charlie Steelman was host
ess to the members of the Ila
Holman Bible class of the Wilkes
boro Baptist church in their
Christmas party held at her
home at Oakwoods Thursday eve
ning. Mrs. R. L. Wellborn presid
ed for the business session, and
Mrs. J. R. Turner directed a
Christmas program with a num
ber of the women taking part.
Mrs. Wellborn led the devotions,
Mrs. Elmore Dancy offered the
?rayer, and poems, stories, and
he singining of carols made up
in interesting program. The
mests enjoyed refreshments and
->n exchange of gifts amid Christ
mas decorations.

To Be At Home
Saturday Evening
Mr. and Mrs. William Frank
lin Gaddy will be "at home" on
Saturday evening, December 24,
at their home in Finley Park to
celebrate their twenty-fifth wed
ding anniversary. No invitations
are being iBsued but friends are
invited to call between the hours
eight to ten. Mrs. Gaddy before
marriage was Miss Vera Hudson,
of Albemarle.

Entertains Her Club
The members of ?the 8th Col
umn club were entertained at a
dinner - bridge and Christmas
party by Mrs. Don Story at her
home in Wilkesboro Tuesday eve
ning. Following the dinner served
at seven o'clock bridge was play
ed at two tables placed amid a
colorful Yuletide setting. Mrs. C.
C. Faw, Jr., received the top
score prize and Mrs. William
Prevette the bingo award. The
members enjoyed an exchange of
gifts.
Round Table Club
Has Christmas Party
The members of the Round
Table club, with their husbands
as guests, enjoyed a delightful
Christmas party Friday evening.
The group assembled at the
Wilkes Hotel for dinner at seven
o'clock, after which they went to
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Emerson for a game of cards.
Bridge was played at four tables
with the top score prizes going
to Mrs. L. H. Snyder and Ivey ,
Moore, Jack Swofford received the
bingo award. At the Emerson,
home, where a lighted Christmas
tree and other seasonal decora-1
tions prevailed the club mem
bers had an exchange of gifts.
