North Wilkueboro boys and
girls defeated Millers Creek
high school basketball team In
two closely contested games here
Friday night.
The Mountain Lionesses edged
out a fast Millers Creek sextet
18 to 18. The home team amais
ed a 7-0 lead in the first quarter
but Millers Creek came back
strong and at one point in the
final period went into the lead.
North Wllkesboro boys won
24 to 18 after trailing through
the first half in a defensive
game. Joe Bller paced tbe win
ning attack with 10 pointy and
played a good floor game. Kilby
was high scorer and outstanding
floor player for Millers Creek. I

Games On Friday
Wilkesboro high school boys
scored a smashing victory -over
a rangy Elkin five Friday night
at Wilkesboro by coming from
behind with a fast offense while
closing the door on EMkin's scor
ing. Wilkesboro boys won 36 to
22 ghd Elkin girls won 42 to
26.
The Ramblers vere trailing
19-13 at half time bnt some
thing happened to tarn the tide
of the game. In the second half
Elkin was held to one field goal
and one free throw while Wil
kesboro hits the basket for 23
points to win going away. It
was a thrilling comeback featu
ed by excellent team play and
fast work on the floor. John
Garwood topped the Wilkesboro
scorers with 11 points and Eld
ridge paced Elkin with 10.
