SOCIAL HEWS* Clubs, Parties, Church Activities, Etc. MBS MAMIE SOCK WELL ? EDITOR Mrs. R. L. Moorehouse Addresses Club Meet For their Educational pro gram the members of the North Wilkesboro Senior Woman's club were fortunate in having Mrs. Robert Moorehouse speak to them in their monthly meeting held Monday afternoon at the clubhouse. Mrs. J. B. Williams, program chairman, presented the speaker. Mrs. Moorehouse proved her self equally as adept a speaker as sh? is a writer in choosing as her aubject, education, especially that branch of schooling which has to do with teaching a child to read?and to read properly. Mrs. Moorehouse envisions for Wilkes county schools the serv ice-of a teacher trained to work exclusively with children, who have experienced difficulty in learning to read, since it has been proven that every one can, through advance scientific meth jods, become proficient at this most important of the three R's. Mrs. Moorehouse presented her cause so persuasively that no one in the audience could have fail ed to respond and share her en thusiasm. The meeting opened by sing ing the club hymn, using the Collect as a prayer, which was led by Mrs. C. Don Coffey, Jr. "The Challenge of the Future" by Mrs. J. Blair Buck, president of the General Federation of Woman's Clubs, was read by Mrs. Jack Swofford. Mrs. Ivey Moore, the presi dent, presided for the business session.
