Miss Patsy Pope and Miss Margie Newton will return to Vlrglnia-Intermont College at Bristol, Va., tomorrow after being here for a week of spring holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Crook visited friends at Mars Hill and Asheville Sunday and Monday and were overnight guests Saturday at Hot Springs. The Crooks expect to have with them for the weekend their daughter, Miss Mary Evelyn Crook, a nurse at the Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Miss Marie Haigwood, a member of the Shelby Public School faculty, is in Asheville this week attending the study conference of the Association for Childhood Education International. Miss Haigwood visited here during the week-end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Haigwood. Mrs. C. T. Doughton and four children, Misses Betsy, Becca, Jon Lee, and Tommy Doughton, spent the week-end in WinstonSalem in the home of Mrs. Doughton's father, Mr. W. H. Turner, and Mrs. Turner. The Doughtons attended the Moravian Easter Sunrise Service. Oliver H. Elledge, airman, USN, of Millers Creek, has reported for duty at the Naval Air Station, Naval Operating Base, Argentia, Newfoundland. This overseas land base is maintained by the Navy for weather observation and outpost supply depots for ships operating in the area. Elledge, who entered the Naval service July 24, 1948 received his recruit training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif. Before entering the Navy, he was graduated from Millers Creek High School. Miss Job* Wesslnger, who teaches at Clevenger's Business College, spent the Easter holidays with her people at Albermarle. She went down to bring her grandson, Chuck Hill, to North Wilkesboro for an extended visit. Mrs. ®. C. Hill and baby daughter are Tisiting at Aiken while Mrs. Hill's husband, Lieut. Hill, is on sea duty. The.Hills this summer will go to Annapolis, Md., Where Lieut. Hill is to have two years of graduate study. Mr. and Mrs. L. M.
