From People You Know Who Move About Miss Hope Brown of Moravian Falls is Spending some time in Alexandria, Va. with relatives. p Mrs. Veola Hedrick and daugh ter, Miss Joan Hedrick, of Tampa, Florida, are here en a visit with Mrs. Hedrick's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe E. Johnson. Mr. Charlie Jenkins has return ed from a two weeks vacation at Defray Beach, Florida. Miss Zeda Grogan, of Leaks ville. is spending awhile here in the home of her brother, Mr. I. L. Grogan, and Mrs. Grogan. Mr. Nelson Tomlinson, of Win ston-Salem, yisited here during the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tomlinson and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. DeBerry spent the week-end in Winston Salem as guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Blum. Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Roope and daughter, Morguenia, have re turned from two weeks vacation, at Palmetta, Florida. Miss Virginia Hix Brame, is still a patient at the Baptist Hos pital in Winston-Salem. Her condi tion is reported to be slowly im proving. Dr. and Mrs. John Morris and two children, Watson and Virginia, of MoFehead City, were overnight guest here Thursday of Mr. P. J. Brame. v , The name of Wright's Men's Shop in Wilkesboro has been changed to Chipman Clothing Co. Mr. J. G. Chipman is proprietor of the clothing establishment. Mr. and Mrs. I. V. Grogan spent the week-end at Ridgeway with Mrs. Grogan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Young, Sr. They went especially for the wedding of Miiss Cornelia Roberts and Robert'Setliff, which took place Sunday afternoon at four o'clock at the Methodist churcli. Mrs. Gro gan was soloist for the wedding. Mr. and Mrs* Lane Atkinson had' as their guests daring the week-end, Mrs. R. R. Powlas and three children, Richard, Thomas, and Mary Ann, of Rockwell. Mrs. W. H. McElwee, Sr., and daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Richard son,. of Statesville, visited here Thursday for the day in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McElwee. Mrs. Gordon Wood entered the City Memorial Hospital in Win ston Salem Friday, where on Saturday she underwent an opera tion. Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Cham berlain left Sunday to attend the annual convention of the Security Life and Trust Company, being held at the Grove Park Inn, Asbe ville. They will return to North Wilkesboro Thursday. Mr. Jimmy Day has returned to the University of North Caro lina at Chapel Hill to attend Sum mer school. He was accompanied there last Monday by his mother and sister, Mrs. W. M. Day and Miss Virginia Day, who remained over until Tuesday. Mr. Peter Morehouse, a student at Harvard University, Is at home now for the summer with his parents, Mr; and Mrs. Robert Morehouse, at their home on the Brushy Mountains. Mr. Archie Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Williams, of North Wilkesboro route three, has .en listed in the U. S. Army air corpB and is receiving his basic training at San Antonio, TeTas. Mr. Tom J. Bumgarner Is spending this week with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles 8. Bumgarner, at Millers Creek after graduating from North Carolina State College June 11. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Choplin had as their guests last week-end Dr. and Mrs. Lee M. Brooks .and son, Robert Brooks, of Chapel' Hill. Mrs. Choplin is a niece Of Dr. Brooks. Mr. and Mrs. Presley Blevins and two daughters, Pat and Judy, of Charlotte, spent last week here with Mrg. Blevin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Kelly. Mr. Blevins was on his vacation. Mesdames W. P. Blair,r Hill Carlton, Dan Carter, L. M. Nel son, C. Don Coffey, Jr., and J. B. Carter were guests at the Black Bear Inn at 'West Jefferson last Thursday arid Friday. Miss Sara Dixon, who has been teaching at the Oklahoma Pres byterian College at Durante, Ok lahoma, is here on a visit in the hpme of Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Cibbs before going on to Montreat to spend the summer. Miss Edith Marie Ferguson, stu dent at the Richmond Profession al Institute at Richmond, Va., 1 after spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Ferguson, at Ferguson, has gone to Camp Tona-Wannah for girls near Hendersonville,' where she is serving as a councillor. Men's and boy's overalls are going up.
