Miller, who has been in New York City for about two weeks on a buying trip for the Goodwill Store, returned to her home here today. Miss Andora Ingle returned here Monday to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Ingle, after spending three weeks in Salisbury in the home of her aunt, Mrs. Virginia Gregory. Misses Lena Gray and Mary Evelyn Adams, Nancy and Helen Woodruff have returned home following a two wijeks visit with Sgt. and Mrs. Fred Wyatt at Tiber Island, Savannah Beach, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Finley had as their guests for the week-end Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Culbertson and daughter, Anne, of Blacksburg, Va., Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Henderson and daughter, Betty, of Greensboro; and Mr. John Heath, of Union, S. C. Mrs. W. J. Heath, also of Greensboro, and mother of Mrs. Culbertson, Mrs. Henderson, Mrs. Finley, and Mr. Heath, is on an extended visit here in the Finley home. Mr. D. M. Miss Virginia Hix Brame, who was a patient at the Baptist Hospital in Winston-Saiem for a number of weeks, is now at home here with her parents, -Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brame, and is getting along nicely. Mrs. Philip Weatherwax and daughter, Ann Gray, have returned to their home at Hamptpn, Va., after visiting Mrs. Weatherwax's mother, Mrs. T. G. Perry. Miss Dianne Rousseau, who had been at Camp Hastings near Winston-Salem for two weeks, returnhere Sunday to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Rousseau, who with their other daughter, Cynthia, went down to the camp to accompany her home. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Cate, of Columbia, S1. C. and daughter, Miss Geraldine Cate, of Raleigh, were guests of friends here Monday. The Cates, who were residents of North Wilkesboro many years ago, were en "route to Little Phoenix Lodge in Ashe county for a vacation. Dr. and Mrs. H. B. Smith, Mrs. Robert Brame, and Mrs. Carl Coffey, spent the week-end at Brevard and the Transylvania Music Camp, and attended the four o'clock concert on Sunday afternoon given by the band. Miss Anne Smith and Miss Nail Gwyn Brame are staying at the camp. Miss Mamie Sockwell had as her guests for the week-end her cousin, his wife and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. William J. Sockwell, Misses Emma Lou and Helen Jo Sockwell, and Miss Dolphine Cobb and Miss Nancy Boone, all Of Gibsonville. Mrs. Robertson is the former Miss Lila Anne Beish, of this city. Misses Frances and Betty Lou Vannoy motored down for a week's vacation with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Vannoy at Reddles River, returning to Newport News, Virginia, Thursday where they are employed as social workers. While at home they visited relatives in Kannapolis, N. 0. and Beckley, West Va. Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Hulcher and son, Buddy, of Coshocton, Ohio, who visited here several days over the week-end with their relatives, left Tuesday to spend awhile at Palm Harbor, Florida, in the cottage owned there by Mrs. Hulcher's people. The band was directed by James Christian Pfhol, of Davidson College. o Pastime Club .Met With Mrs. Day Members of the Pastime bridge club and two extra guests, Mrs. 1. L. Grogan and Mrs. Maurice Walsh, were delightfully entertained Monday evening by Charles Day, Jr., at her home on D street. In the game the guest prise went to Mrs. Walsh, the top score prizes for club members to Mrs. Johnson Sanders, second high score price to Mm. Robert Gambill, and the bingo award to Mrs. Grogan.
