MISS MAMIE SOCK WELL — EDITOR Ila Holman Class In July Meeting The I1& Holman Bible ClasB of the "Wilkesboro Baptist church met with Mrs. Carl Bullis for the Jul/ meeting with 6 members pre sent. Mrs. R. L. Wellborn had charge of the program. The sub ject was on "Backsliding." Two Two songs were sung, "I Must Need Qo Home" and "Lord I'm Coming Home." Sentence pray ers were offered by the class. Mrs. Neel gave the devotional read ing. Others taking part on the program were Mrs. L. M. Foster, Mrs. Cola Parker, Mrs. R. L. Wel born and Mrs. A. E. Rhoades. Mrs. Bullis was assisted in serv ing delicious refreshments by her daughter, Mrs. Pete Kulynych. MYF Sub-District Met At Wilkesboro The Wilkes Cqunty sub-district meeting of the Methodist Youth Fellowship was held Monday even ing at the Community House in Wilkesboro with the Wilkesboro MYF as host for the evening. Miss Margie Kenerly, North Wil kesboro, Introduced the program which was the showing Of a film strip "How to Live With the Atom Bomb''. The picture was followed by a discussion led by Miss Re becca Raper. Jim Moore, the president, pre sided for the business part of the meeting, at which time the group voted to send Mr. Moore to the Leadership school at Lake Juna luska which is now in session. Miss Norma Gabriel gave an ex cellent report of the Older Youth Assembly she recently had at tended at Lake Junaluska.'lt was announced that the next meeting would be held at the Friendship church. During the recreation period the Friendship MYF presented a skit, and folk songs were led hy Miss Gabriel. Approximately thirty young people attended the meet ing and were served refreshments by the host group at the close of the evening. Guigous Entertain At Tea At Valdese VALDESE, — Mrs. L. P. Guigou and her daughters, Mrs. Paul Cox, of Greensboro, Mrs. Robert Friday, of Hickory, and Mrs. Blair Gwyn of North Wilkesboro, gave a tea at the Guigou home in Val dese Wednesday afternoon from three o'clock until six to intro duce Mrs. John Harvey Guigou, their daughter and sister-in-law. Ninety guests called during the afternoon. Mrs. Guigou, the former Miss Louise Phillips Of Toecane, N. C., was married at the Bakersville Methodist church July 1, and she and Mr. Guigou are now at home at 505 Roderet Street in Valdese. For the tea, the L. P. Guigou home was beautifuly appointed with vases of white dahlias, white glads, fever few and Esther Reed daises. An arrangement of pink rose buds marked the beginning of the receiving line; nosegays of white pom pom chrysanthemums entwined with florist lace and tied with white ribbons were worn by those who assisted with the enter taining. Miss Anita Ghigo, Mrs. Gwyn and Mrs. B«n Pons, in rotation, greeted the guests at the front door and presented them to Mrs. L. P. Guigou who introduced FREE!-JAROF MONEY-FREE! Bridal squares top ped with icings of white {oses. were served with colored mints, mixed nuts and the lime iced punch. Assisting Mrs. Friday with the serving were Mrs. J. Grisette, Mrs. Julius Ramsey, Jr.. Mrs. Ed ward Pascal and Miss Emily Pas cal. The goodbyes were said to Mrs. Henry Guigou of Hickory, Mrs. Walter H. Styles and Mrs. George Williams of Valdese. o During the past season 4-H Club members in 14 mountain counties of North Carolina set out a total of 287,425 tree seedlings.
